Lambeth Removals Service Terms and Conditions

Removal team loading household items for a UK moveThese terms and conditions set out the basis on which Lambeth Removals provides domestic and commercial removal services across the UK. By making a booking, you agree that these terms apply to the full scope of the service, including quotation, planning, loading, transport, unloading, storage where agreed, and any related handling of goods. Please read them carefully before confirming your move.

For the purposes of these terms, references to ???we??, ???us?? and ???our?? mean Lambeth Removals, and references to ???you?? or ???customer?? mean the person, business, or organisation making the booking. These terms are intended to be fair, clear, and consistent with UK consumer and transport law. They should be read together with any written quotation, inventory, order confirmation, or service agreement issued to you.

Customer reviewing a moving service booking and quotationOur services are provided on the understanding that the information you give us is accurate, complete, and up to date. This includes access details, parking arrangements, item lists, fragile goods, and any special handling requirements. If you provide incomplete or incorrect information, the removal service may be delayed, additional charges may apply, or the booking may need to be revised.

1. Booking process

A booking is usually made after we have received your enquiry and supplied a quotation. The quotation may be based on information you provide verbally, in writing, or through an inventory list. In some cases, we may conduct a pre-move survey, video survey, or request photographs to assess the volume, access, and specific conditions of the move. Any quotation is issued on the basis of the information available at that time.

To confirm a booking, you may need to accept the quotation and provide any requested deposit or advance payment. A booking is only secured once we have confirmed it in writing or by electronic message. The agreed date, time window, and scope of work will form part of the contract. If the job details change after confirmation, we may need to revise the price, timetable, or staffing levels.

Packed boxes and furniture prepared for transport2. Customer responsibilities

You must ensure that all items to be moved are ready for collection at the agreed time. This includes dismantling items where required unless dismantling has been specifically included in our quotation. You are responsible for labelling items, securing loose contents, and protecting any delicate or valuable possessions that require special packing unless we have agreed to provide packing services.

You must also ensure lawful access to both the collection and delivery addresses. This includes arranging parking permissions, access passes, lift bookings, building notices, entry codes, or other permissions if needed. If access is restricted, unsafe, or significantly different from what was described, we may adjust the service, charge waiting time, or reschedule the move.

3. Payments and charges

All prices are quoted in pounds sterling unless stated otherwise. Unless a quotation says it is fixed, prices may be adjusted where the actual job differs from the information originally supplied. Common reasons for adjustment include additional items, extra labour, difficult access, extended waiting time, changes in distance, delays caused by the customer, or the need for special equipment.

Payment terms will be specified in the quotation or invoice. We may require a deposit to secure your booking, with the balance due before, on, or immediately after completion of the service. We may also require full prepayment for certain services, such as short-notice bookings, storage arrangements, or work involving substantial vehicle allocation. Accepted payment methods will be notified in advance.

If payment is not made on time, we may suspend the service, retain goods in our possession where lawful, charge interest on overdue sums in accordance with applicable UK legislation, and recover reasonable costs associated with collection. Any bank charges or failed-payment fees arising from your payment method may be passed on to you where permitted by law.

4. Cancellations, rescheduling, and postponement

You may request to cancel or reschedule a booking by notifying us as soon as possible. The amount refundable, if any, will depend on the notice given and any costs already incurred. Because vehicles, staff, and scheduling are reserved for your move, late cancellations may lead to partial or full charges, especially where work has already begun, materials have been prepared, or third-party costs have been committed.

If you postpone the booking, we will try to accommodate a new date, but availability cannot be guaranteed. A rescheduled booking may be subject to revised pricing if costs have changed or if the scope of work differs. We may cancel or postpone the service where unavoidable circumstances arise, including severe weather, vehicle breakdown, staff illness, road closures, legal restrictions, or safety concerns.

Waste handling and disposal arrangements for removal services5. Service standards and limitations

We will use reasonable care and skill in carrying out the removal service. Our staff will handle goods in a professional manner and will follow agreed instructions where those instructions are lawful, safe, and practical. However, we are not responsible for delays or losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, including traffic disruption, accidents, extreme weather, or action by public authorities.

Unless expressly agreed in writing, the service does not include insurance cover for items of exceptional value, specialist packing for fragile artwork, technical disconnection of appliances, gas fitting, plumbing, or electrical work. If you require additional services, these must be agreed in advance and may be subject to separate terms and charges. Any advice given by our staff is general only and does not amount to a guarantee.

6. Liability for loss or damage

We will only be liable for loss or damage where it results from our negligence, breach of contract, or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. Our liability may be limited where damage arises from pre-existing defects, inadequate packing by the customer, normal wear and tear, inherent fragility, or items that are excluded from the service due to their nature or value.

You must notify us of any damage, shortage, or loss as soon as reasonably possible and in any event within the period stated in the service confirmation or invoice. Claims should include a description of the issue and, where possible, photographs or other supporting evidence. We may inspect the items concerned before accepting any claim. Failure to give timely notice may affect the outcome of your claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law. Where liability is established, our responsibility will be assessed fairly and in line with applicable legal principles and any agreed insurance arrangements.

7. Waste, disposal, and environmental regulations

Where the removal service includes the clearance, disposal, recycling, or collection of unwanted items, both parties must comply with UK waste regulations. You must tell us in advance if any items contain hazardous materials, electrical components, sharp objects, batteries, liquids, or other regulated waste. We do not knowingly transport or dispose of prohibited materials unless this has been specifically agreed and can be lawfully handled.

Waste transfer must be conducted responsibly. Where required, we may issue or request waste transfer documentation, and you must provide accurate details about the nature and source of any waste. You remain responsible for confirming that all items presented for disposal may be lawfully removed and handled. If items are misdescribed or contain restricted waste, additional charges, delays, or refusal of service may apply.

8. Customer property, storage, and uncollected goods

If goods are left in our care, stored temporarily, or remain uncollected after delivery or completion, you remain responsible for them unless we have agreed a specific storage contract. Where goods are not collected or payment remains outstanding, we may charge reasonable storage, administration, or recovery fees, subject to legal limits and any notice requirements under applicable law.

If we must deal with uncollected property, we will act reasonably and may give you written notice before taking further steps. This may include charging storage, arranging re-delivery, or, where lawful, disposing of goods after adequate notice and only in accordance with relevant legal rights. Perishable, unsafe, or prohibited items may be dealt with sooner where necessary to protect health, safety, or the integrity of other goods.

Delivery and unloading at the destination property9. Complaints, force majeure, and governing law

If you have a complaint about the service, you should raise it promptly so we can review the matter and, where appropriate, investigate and respond. We aim to resolve issues fairly and efficiently. Any remedial action offered will depend on the nature of the issue, the evidence available, and whether you have fulfilled your responsibilities under these terms.

We shall not be in breach of contract for any failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, strikes, fire, epidemic, governmental restrictions, transport disruption, or the unavailability of essential staff or equipment. If such an event continues for a prolonged period, either party may be entitled to cancel the affected service without further liability, subject to payment for work already carried out.

These Lambeth Removals terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or connected with these terms, the quotation, or the removal service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
